All Saints Day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJBtcgFl0EM Many of us would have had a knock on the door by a witch, headless henchman or ghost over the past few days. I am sure that these costumes are getting more realistic. As Catholics, Halloween marks the eve of one of the great feasts in the Catholic calendar – All Saint Day. We of course don’t celebrate the dead but the living as Christ came so that we may be reunited with Him in heaven. All Saints Day is a day where we celebrate those who are in heaven, having lived extemporary lives, but do not formally have a feast day of their own. Past family members and friends may well fall into this category.

All Souls Day is a day where we remember those in our lives who have passed away. We pray that they may join with Christ in heaven. The following video has a great introduction linking scripture to both these feasts. During November the Chapel is open and the names of friends or family members that have died can be written in the Remembrance Book. In particular let us keep Cecile Randall and her family, and the Aheren family in our prayers: Eternal Rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen
