Week of Christian Unity

Posted: January 15, 2016 in Uncategorized

Christian Unity At least once a year, Christians are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (see John 17.21). Hearts are touched and Christians come together to pray for their unity. Congregations and parishes all over the world exchange preachers / priests or arrange special ecumenical celebrations and prayer services.

If you are from another Christian denomination, you are particularly welcome at Staff prayer this week as we as a school pray that one day we may “all be one”. (Wed 8:10am)

Two excellent resources have been created by various Church groups to promote Christian Unity.  PDF’s of these booklets are in the chaplaincy folder in the staff area and by clicking on this link:  Christian unity prayers

In addition to these, I have places the “Hail Holy Queen” and the “Year of Mercy” prayers in every member of staffs pigeonhole.  Please use these with your forms this year.

Prayer
Lord Jesus,
you commanded us to break bread together
and to drink one cup in remembrance of you.
Forgive us, Lord.
Open the hearts and minds of
Christians world-wide,
especially those entrusted with
leadership in your Church,
to the joys and blessings of
this fellowship.
Create in all of us a passion to
realise the hope
to which you have called us:
one body and one Spirit,
one Lord, one baptism,
one God who is above and
through and in all.
Amen.

Have a peace filled week,
