Vocation Sunday

Happy Easter everyone, Alleluia. The Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life took place yesterday. It flows from the broader culture of vocation, and is when the universal Church asks the Lord to send more laborers to the harvest as priests and religious. The theme this year is ‘Change a Life: Talk about Vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life’.

As well as praying for Vocations, we are encouraged this week to think about our own calling. Whether this be a certain job, the married or single life; or a specific religious vocation.

You will know your vocation by the joy that it brings you. You will know. You will know when it’s right. (Dorothy Day)

If you are what you should be, you will set the whole world ablaze! (St Catherine of Siena)

This video outlines both types of vocation and could be a good started before the prayer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihnzFH2L818

This week please pray for our Careers department, as they help students discern their vocation. Please also pray for the religious men and women that serve our school.

Prayer for our priests:

Heavenly Father,

grant that our priests be strengthened and healed by the power of the Eucharist they celebrate.

May the Word they proclaim give them courage and wisdom.

We pray that all those whom they seek to serve may see in them the love and mercy of Jesus, our Eternal High Priest, who is Lord for ever and ever. Amen

Mary, Mother of the Church, look tenderly upon your sons, our priests.

Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, pray for us all

Amen
