Christmas is now over, the Wise Men have made their visitations and two weeks ago, we celebrated the Baptism of the Lord. We are now beginning ordinary time, and Jesus is preparing to begin his public ministry. John the Baptist sees Jesus coming towards him and speaks to crowds. John tells them that he did not know Jesus until he was revealed by the Holy Spirit as the Chosen One of God at his baptism (Gospel).
We pray that, through the grace of our baptism, we may know the love and presence of Jesus in our lives.
Here I am Lord! I come to do your will (Psalm 39)
I waited, I waited for the Lord
and he stooped down to me; he heard my cry.
He put a new song into my mouth,
praise of our God.
You do not ask for sacrifice and offerings,
but an open ear,
you do not ask for holocaust and victim.
Instead, here I am.
In the scroll of the book it stands written
that I should do your will.
My God, I delight in your law in the depth of my heart.
Your justice I have proclaimed in the great assembly.
My lips I have not sealed; you know it, O Lord
