Year of Adoremus

Posted: June 24, 2019 in Adoremus

The Year of Adoremus ran from Corpus Christi 2018 – Corpus Christi 2019.  The aim of the year was to give students a greater experience of the Eucharist, thus a better understanding the Mass.

At St James, we began the year by visiting our feeder primary school and running an assembly and retreat morning.  Students gave feedback to a Year 6 assembly at the Annunciation Primary School and then presented their own ideas on the Year of Adoremus to the whole school.

Throughout the year, each year group spent time in front of the Blessed Sacrament.  This time of Adoration allowed students to experience being in the presence of God.

Each class was also taken over to St Margaret Clitherow’s church for Mass.  This will continue next year.

The year ended with Mass at the Cathedral. 4 members of the school were selected to bring up the gifts at the offertory.  This was an incredible privilege.

Community Masses

Each month, members of St Margaret Clitherow Church come over to join us in celebrating the Eucharist together.

Each form group has the opportunity to plan the liturgy and assist with the readings and alter serving.

Fr Brian welcomes each class and explains the readings of the day.  Some classes have prepared hymns and bidding prayers too.

It is a real privilege to have Mass celebrated here in the heart of the school.
